The
manufacturer of precision stampings for the electrical industry
required upgraded stamping oil storage for its facility.
Earthsafe
worked with local code officials to obtain the approval
of an aboveground vaulted storage system. The system feeds
stamping oil to a line of presses.
The
same facility used a second Earthsafe vaulted system for
a facility expansion. A third system was designed and fabricated
by Earthsafe for delivery to the companys Mexican
facility.
The
food distributor required an oil blending and dispensing
operation for its growing oils business. Earthsafe designed
and built a new automated tank farm for the facility. A
computer controlled blending and batching system was designed
and built to perform dispensing into containers.
A
computer based operator interface was provided for the operations
manager to allow selection and adjustment of batch characteristics.
The management system also provides information on stock
volumes and usage.
Inland
Steel required a fuel tank compliance upgrade at its blast
furnace facility. Existing underground tank provided fuel
for the blast furnace emergency equipment building and pump
house. Earthsafe designed and built a new aboveground fuel
storage and transfer system. Automated pump and control
systems feed fuel to day tanks at four individual pump /
generator stations. The existing underground tank was closed
in place.
US
Steel required an environmental compliance upgrade of its
gasoline fuel stations at Gary Works. In addition, they
needed a state of the art fuel management system to reduce
their fuel costs. Earthsafe installed a new underground
gasoline fueling station. The installation was complicated
by the need for dewatering the sandy soils near lake Michigan
to accomplish the excavation. A new fuel management system
was installed at the new station and at one existing station.
These were tied in by modem to the accounting office. An
existing underground tank was removed from service. The
removal required sheet pile shoring of an adjacent building
foundation. All work was performed within the guidelines
of the comprehensive site safety program.
The
manufacturer of precision castings required a resin storage
and distribution system. The new system eliminated the expense
and potential for spills from drum handling operations.
The system was based on an insulated and temperature controlled
vault for the resin storage and pumps. Day tanks installed
at the mold making machines were automatically filled by
the control system.
The
bearing manufacturer generated oily waste water from material
transfer operations between coolant treatment areas. Rainwater
runoff from the site collected in a stream that ran through
an upscale residential area nearby the plant. Earthsafe
designed a rainwater collection system and installed an
oil water separator to treat stormwater runoff from the
site. The installation was complicated by the tight working
space and the 23 foot excavation depth required to allow
gravity flow from the various work areas.
