The facility was designed to store and digitize the film archives of the Smithsonian, that are subject to degradation. The facility includes extensive underground storage areas with precise temperature and humidity control. The fuel system consists of (5) 20,000 gallon aboveground tanks in a tank storage building. Fuel is transferred to remote locations for fuel service for (2) boilers, and (4) emergency generators. Earthsafe control systems provide integration of the system components and a central display of all system status parameters.
